Short version: no accounts, no selling of your information, and messages you send go only to the person who runs this site.

Who we are

Pensacola Surf Report (pensacolasurfreport.com) is a free surf forecast for Pensacola Beach, Florida, run by an individual in Pensacola. Questions about this policy: contact@pensacolasurfreport.com.

What we collect

• Contact form. Your name (optional), email address and message. These are emailed to us so we can reply. They are not stored on the website.
• “Surfed lately?” votes. The session you rated, your answer, the time, and a scrambled one-way code made from your internet address and browser. The code lets us count one vote per person and filter out spam. Your actual internet address is never stored. Votes are used only to check forecast accuracy.
• Spam and rate limiting. When you send a message we store the same kind of scrambled code and the time, so we can limit each person to a few messages per hour.
• Server logs. Our host, Cloudflare, briefly processes standard request information (such as IP address, browser type and pages requested) to deliver and secure the site.

We don’t ask for, and don’t knowingly collect, any other personal information.

Cookies and similar technologies

The site itself does not use tracking or advertising cookies. Some services we use may set their own:

• Cloudflare Turnstile checks that contact-form submissions come from a real person (Cloudflare privacy policy).
• YouTube plays the Surf Cams in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). YouTube may set cookies once you press play (Google privacy policy).
• Advertising. When ads are shown, they may be served by Google and its partners, who may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can turn off personalized ads in Google’s Ad Settings, and learn more at how Google uses information from sites that use its services. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland will be asked for consent before personalized ads.

Fonts are hosted on this site, not loaded from Google. We don’t use analytics trackers.

How we use information

To answer your messages, check and improve forecast accuracy, keep the site secure, and stop spam. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.

Who we share it with

Only the service providers that make the site work (Cloudflare for hosting and email forwarding, Google for ads and YouTube), or when required by law.

How long we keep it

Contact messages stay in our email inbox until deleted. Scrambled vote and rate-limit records are kept only as long as needed to check forecast accuracy and prevent spam.

Do Not Track

Browsers can send a “Do Not Track” signal. There is no common standard for responding to it, so this site does not change its behavior when it receives one. The site itself does not track you across other websites; advertising partners follow their own policies, linked above.

Your choices

You can browse without sending us anything. You can ask us to delete any message or vote you sent by emailing contact@pensacolasurfreport.com.

Children

This site isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child sent us information, email us and we’ll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll update the effective date at the top of this page. Significant changes will also be noted on the home page for at least 30 days.
